No, we will not be using Bovaer®
After the announcement by Arla Foods UK of a trial on 30 farms of Bovaer®, a feed additive to reduce methane in cattle, we have received a lot of enquiries.
As a biodynamic farm we are governed by very strict standards determined by Biodynamic Federation Demeter International (read the standards here https://demeter.net/certification/standard/ ) so feed additives such as this would not be permitted.
We believe that good milk comes from healthy cows eating a natural diet. In summer they are out on pasture, and in winter we feed our cows hay and silage made by our farmers. Along with a treat of biodynamic oats or fodder beet in the milking parlour, that’s it. So, you can continue to enjoy your daily pint of biodynamic raw milk, or even try it for the first time! 🥛🐮
